Dr. Mitzi received her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and received her Doctor of Medicine Degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her Internal Medicine Internship, Neurology Residency, and Multiple Sclerosis Fellowship at Georgia Health Sciences University (formerly MCG) in Augusta, GA, where she received numerous awards and scholarships and served as Chief Resident of the Neurology Residency Program.
She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including academic teaching hospitals, private practice and as Medical Director of a Multiple Sclerosis Center. She has expertise in understanding MS in underserved and ethnic minority populations. Through collaborations with national and international MS committees, she advocates for people living with MS to share in the decision making process with their healthcare teams to combat this disease.
She is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of research participation and encouraging diversity in clinical research.
She serves as a well-respected consultant, speaker, researcher, author and physician.
